WHY IT MATTERS

Website accessibility lawsuits
are rising.

For many small-business owners, a demand letter is the first time they hear that a website can be “inaccessible.” Most of the problems behind those letters are basic and fixable.

WHAT THE FREE TEST COVERS

A sample of your site,
focused on the biggest problems.

The free test doesn’t check every page of your website. We check up to 4 of your most important pages, starting with your home page, to find the most prominent accessibility issues. On most small-business sites, the same problems repeat from page to page, so a sample shows you where you stand and what to fix first.

Need every page checked, or have a large or complex site? Ask us about a full audit.

  • Accessibility first, using automated checks and a person’s review
  • Mobile: whether it works on small screens and is easy to tap
  • Speed: how fast your page appears on a phone
  • Suggested improvements, and what it would cost for us to make them

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

The everyday problems
that lock customers out.

These aren’t exotic issues. They affect someone using a screen reader, someone with low vision, someone who can’t use a mouse, or an older customer squinting at light gray text on a phone.

01

Color contrast

Light gray text on white, or white text on a pale photo, is the most common failure on the web.

02

Image descriptions

Meaningful photos need alt text that screen readers read aloud. “IMG_4482.jpg” doesn’t help anyone.

03

Form labels and errors

Every field in your contact form needs a real label, and errors should say how to fix them.

04

Keyboard access

Every link, button and field should be reachable with the Tab key, with a visible focus outline.

05

Links and buttons that make sense

“Get a free estimate” beats “Click here.” Icon-only buttons need a hidden text label.

06

Headings, text in images and captions

Real headings in order, no phone numbers hidden in graphics, and captions on videos that explain something important.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES

When we find problems,
we can fix them properly.

We fix accessibility problems in the website itself: better contrast, real alt text, labeled forms, keyboard access, clear link and button names, and pages that work on a small phone screen. You’ll see the cost in your report before any work starts, and we re-test when the fixes are done.

We don’t sell accessibility widgets or overlays. In 2025, the Federal Trade Commission ordered accessiBe to pay $1 million over claims that its AI tool could make any website compliant. A widget can’t write your image descriptions or fix a form that doesn’t work with a keyboard.

Building a new website? Accessibility is part of how we build every site, not an extra charge. See our websites for service businesses.

QUESTIONS

Good to know
before you start.

Is the test really free?

Yes. The initial grade and the full report are both free, and there’s no obligation to buy anything. When you sign up, you can choose to get occasional website tips by email, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Why up to 4 pages, not my whole site?

The free test is a sample meant to find your most prominent issues. On most small sites, the same templates and problems repeat across pages, so 4 well-chosen pages usually reveal the biggest fixes. Paid audits commonly work the same way, testing representative pages rather than every URL. If you need every page checked, ask us about a full audit.

Will this make my website ADA compliant?

No test can promise that, and we’d be wary of anyone who does. Our review is an assessment of what could be improved, not legal advice or an ADA compliance determination. Automated checks catch only part of what makes a site accessible, which is why a person reviews every report.

I’ve received a demand letter. Can you help?

Talk with an attorney first, and don’t ignore the deadlines in the letter. Then we can test your site and help with the website fixes.

Will a free accessibility plugin or widget solve this?

Usually not. Overlays can’t rewrite unclear link text, describe your photos or fix forms that don’t work with a keyboard. Those fixes belong in the website itself.
